Don't Lose Touch - Don't Lose Heart
Updated: Mar 18, 2020
Dear friends and Works of HeART Project community;
After much consideration, and following further updates from our provincial Minister of Health and our Prime Minister, all programs/meetings for Works of HeART Project will be postponed until further notice. This includes our 'Heart Song for Humanity Concert' which was scheduled for March 22, 2020. We hope to be able to reschedule it sometime in the near future. Our first priority must be the health and safety of everyone in our community. But there is nothing stopping us from planning future events together on our brainstorming page on Facebook. We may not be able to set specific dates yet, but we can still brainstorm together. If you would like to take part in our brainstorming group, contact us and we will send you instructions on how to join. Although we plan events locally here on central Vancouver Island, there is no reason you couldn't add your ideas and input of possible projects we could do. And you may even be inspired to start something in your own community! Or give us ideas on how to expand our reach. Or tell us what you are already doing to make the world a better, kinder place! Continuing to connect and share ideas is especially important during these days of self-isolation.
Also, if you are on Facebook, we invite you to join our public page: https://www.facebook.com/worksofheartproject And if you are creating something that inspires kindness and inclusion or anything H.E.A.R.T. related (Humanity, Equality, Acceptance, Respect, Tolerance) please let us know so we may feature you on our website and social media. You could inspire others through your own example!
During these difficult, uncertain times, we may not be able to attend concerts, but we can still make music. We may not be able to enjoy theatre but we can create memorable moments with our families. We can catch up on things we have been putting off because we’ve been too busy. We can develop empathy for our neighbours and think up ways to show kindness. Creating and connecting with one another hasn’t been cancelled. We can always find a way.
I really look forward to getting together again to plan new projects as soon as the situation allows. In the meantime, let’s stay connected through social media. I would like to end with this quote…
"Every hand that we don't shake must become a phone call that we place.
Every embrace that we avoid must become a verbal expression of warmth and concern.
Every inch and every foot that we physically place between ourselves and another, must become a thought as to how we might be of help to that other, should the need arise."
Sincerely, Micki Findlay – Project Founder www.worksofheartproject.com
